In 2003, Las Vegas took another gamble on professional hockey with the expansion Las Vegas Wranglers of the East Coast Hockey League. (No, you’re not wrong. Las Vegas is not on the East Coast.) Not surprisingly, the Wranglers called a casino home – the Orleans Arena on the Las Vegas Strip. The team won big, compiling a .592 winning percentage over eleven seasons and making the Kelly Cup Finals twice. Alas, in a city that loves big, splashy shows, the Wranglers flew beneath the radar, never averaging more than 5,500 fans per game. Still, with the success of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, the Wranglers are often overlooked, but still a formidable footnote in the annals of the “City That Never Sleeps.”
