In 1967, Paramount Pictures Corporation licensed the Star Trek comic book rights to Gold Key Comics, a division of Whitman Publishing. Over thirteen years, sixty-one editions of the series were published under the Gold Key brand. However, nine of these sixty-one issues were also published under the Whitman trademark, including the comic offered here, Star Trek #27.
