September 7th, 1996, is a date that will live in infamy. That evening, Mike Tyson knocked out WBA World Heavyweight Champion Bruce Seldon at 1:49 of the first round, one of the fastest knockouts in heavyweight championship boxing history. The fight was immediately called a “fix” by those in attendance and boxing fans around the world, as Seldon appeared to have taken a dive (which he later denied). It was the last heavyweight title fight victory for Tyson, one of the most storied boxers in history. Following the fight, Tupac Shakur and his entourage engaged in a brawl, beating a Southside Crips gang member and his entourage at the MGM Grand, site of the Tyson fight. Little more than an hour later, Tupac was murdered on the Las Vegas Strip, a tragic end to a brief, but impactful and transcendent life. The crime remains unsolved to this day. Recently, To Die For Collectibles discovered in its archives a complete, unused ticket from the historic Tyson-Seldon fight. Offered here is that ticket, one of five complete, unused tickets ever graded by PSA, the world’s pre-eminent ticket grading service. This is the highest graded ticket from that night, by a wide margin, a PSA 9, or Mint ticket. (Among the other four graded tickets, two were graded a “1” and the highest grade was a “6.”) This large ticket, encased and preserved by PSA, features bold graphics for the event, ticket location, the event admission price, and the MGM Grand logo. It is truly a one-of-a-kind historical artifact, a tribute and lasting memory of two iconic figures of the 20th century, Tupac Shakur and Mike Tyson.
