In 1967, the staid NFL finally expanded into Bayou Country. The New Orleans Saints set up shop in the Crescent City, playing their home games at New Orleans’ Tulane Stadium. The Saints were a collection of has-beens, castoffs, and no-names. Yet, they did win three games that first season. More than that, they won the hearts of football fans in The Big Easy. This commemorative coin was issued by Falstaff Brewing Corporation, then a major national beer brand. On the obverse is the Saints fleur de li logo and a cartoon player. On the reverse is the logo of Falstaff Beer and the Saints’ inaugural season schedule. TDF Collectibles has never before seen this coin, and we’re guessing you haven’t either. Buy it while you have the chance, a rare piece of NFL history and a unique commemorative coin.
