Burly Phil Esposito was known as the “Garbage Man” during his stellar NHL career because of his propensity to score while clearing up the “garbage” in front of the net. Over 1,282 games, Esposito scored 717 goals and collected 873 assists, averaging more than a point per game. The native of Sault Ste. Marie, Canada led the Boston Bruins to two Stanley Cup titles, and was later a featured star of the Broadway Blue Shirts, the Rangers. After retirement, Esposito was the general manager of the expansion Tampa Bay Lightning. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984, and was the older brother of Hall of Fame goaltender Tony Esposito. The card would grade much higher if it was centered.
