The Notre Dame star who finished second in Heisman Trophy noting, Ismail stunned the sports world by signing with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts, owned by Wayne Gretzky and the late actor John Candy. Ismail played just two seasons in Canada before heading to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. He caught 100 passes in the CFL and 363 more in the NFL. “The Rocket” was also a dangerous kick and punt return man and was inducted into the Notre Dame Hall of Fame after his retirement.
