If you were going to bury a time capsule back in 1969, this beautifully framed cover art print would have been a worthy addition. The AFL was launched in 1960 to compete against the established NFL. After agreeing to merge with the NFL, 1969 was to be its final year. On September 21st, two of the preeminent AFL franchises, the Kansas City Chiefs (who would go on to win Super Bowl IV after the ‘69 season) and the Boston Patriots met at historic Nickerson Field on the campus of Boston University. The Super Bowl-bound Chiefs, with a roster of six future Pro Football Hall of Fame players and Hall of Fame Coach Hank Stram, downed the Pats 31 – 0. Beyond the historical significance of the game, the original cover art is striking, featuring vivid cartoon illustrations of each team’s mascot, along with a comedic presentation of spicy pizza from Pat’s Pizza (Patriots, get it?)  to the Chiefs mascot. This cover art print has been framed with multi-color matte and a dark wood frame, and measures 23” H X 17 1/3” W. Aesthetically pleasing and historically significant, this is an art treasure suitable for any room in the house, to be enjoyed by all and a real conversation-starter.
