This program is more than 90 years old and was originally sold at New York’s Yankee Stadium during the 41st meeting of the annual Army vs Navy football battle, dubbed “America’s Game.” The Army Cadets entered the game with just one loss, a 7 – 6 cliffhanger to eventual National Champion Notre Dame. Under first-year coach Ralph Sasse and Captain Charlie Humber, Army entered the game scoring 24 points a game, while surrendering just two points per contest. Still, this game is the ultimate football rivalry game, and the Navy Midshipmen gave the Army all it could handle. In the end, Army downed Navy 6 – 0 before 75,000 patriotic, screaming fans. Beyond collectible value, reading this program provides fascinating insight into sports and culture of yesteryear.
